Buch has a century-long tradition as one of the largest hospital sites in Germany and has been connected with medical science research institutes from the very beginning. Today, Buch has a unique concentration of biomedical research facilities – its clinics, the Max Delbrück Centre for Molecular Medicine (MDC), the Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (Research Institute for Molecular Pharmocology FMP) and several biotechnology firms. In the course of its chequered history, Buch has developed into a centre of internationally renowned research and one of Germany’s leading biotechnology sites. The establishment of one of the most modern clinics in the country by Helios-Kliniken GmbH, which recently moved to Berlin, has given additional impetus to Berlin-Buch’s further development as an integrated healthcare and technology site.
